Transient evolutional behaviours of double-control electromagnetically induced transparency

چکیده
The evolutional optical behaviours (turn-on dynamics) of a four-level double-control tripod-configuration (electromagnetically induced transparency) system are considered based on the transient solution to the equation of motion of the probability amplitudes of the atomic levels. As the most remarkable property (quantum interference between the two control transitions) will arise in the present tripod-configuration system, the transient evolution of the permittivity in cases of both destructive and constructive quantum interferences is presented. It can be shown that the four-level doublecontrol vapour can become a destructive-interference medium, (exhibiting a twolevel resonant absorption) and a constructive-interference medium, (exhibiting transparency to the probe field), respectively, under certain conditions (related to the ratio of the two control field intensities). The present double-control scenario can be applicable to designs of some new photonic and quantum optical devices such as logic and functional devices (logic gate circuits) and the key component of the technology of quantum coherent information storage. In this paper we examine the absorption and dispersion properties of a weak probe field via Electromagnetically Induced Transparency (EIT) in a four-level system. It is shown that under certain condition, using this model, the absorption cancellation is appeared and the medium becomes transparent to the weak probe field. It will be shown that the controlling of absorption and dispersion spectru...
متن کاملDouble Electromagnetically Induced Transparency in a Tripod-type Atom System
The electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) phenomenon in a four level atomic system with tripod configuration is studied. The results show that this configuration is equivalent to the combination of two single three-level Λ configurations, which, under certain conditions, results in the so-called double-EIT (DEIT) phenomenon. The properties of the double transparency windows for DEIT ar...

We implement double electromagnetically induced transparency (DEIT) in rubidium vapor using a tripod-shaped energy-level scheme consisting of hyperfine magnetic sublevels of the 5S1/2-->5P1/2 transition. We show experimentally that through the use of DEIT one can control the contrast of transparency windows as well as group velocities of the two signal fields. In particular, the group velocitie...
متن کاملSuppression of absorption by quantum interference in intersubband transitions of tunnel-coupled double quantum wells
We propose and analyze an efficient scheme for suppressing the absorption of a weak probe field based on intersubband transitions in a four-level asymmetric coupled-quantum well (CQW) driven coherently by a probe laser field and a control laser field. By using the numerical simulation, we find that the magnitude of the transient absorption of the probe field is smaller than the three-level syst...
